Martin is a full time musician who has radio and TV experience including BBC, CBBC Channel 4, BT Sport, Radio 1 and XFM along with many others. As well as teaching, Martin runs and plays live for many bands and original artists, in both live and studio environments. He uses this vast experience to offer not only expertise on technical skills and working towards the students personal achievements, but also offers great insights into the music industry itself, and can help students plan for a successful career in music.
Martin strongly believes that students learn best when they are having fun, and so this is reflected in his informal, enjoyable teaching style, which encourages students to achieve through personal goals and challenges. Martin can teach any age and skill level, will work towards a student's personal goals, and has a 100% pass rate for graded examinations. Martin teaches from a fully equipped, professional studio in Liverpool city centre.
Martins' ethos is one of respect for everybody, regardless of background or beliefs, and encourages all students to achieve their full potential. Over the last decade, he has held several teaching positions catering for students of all backgrounds including disadvantaged, autistic and marginalised youth. He has extensive experience of teaching on a one to one basis, and also in groups and full band workshops. With colleagues he has also run one-day live band courses for large groups of students which typically would have a performance by the students at the end of the day. Music can be a tool to not only engage students, but also help them develop key life skills, such as social skills, working in a team, motivation, self-improvement and building confidence. Students are actively engaged and motivated by Martins ability to be adaptable, and by communicating a passion for music.
